Training materials can include instructive manuals, workshop materials, interactive or online training, video training, and more. No matter what the subject or the medium, instructional design (ID) principles should be followed. This ensures consistency in how information is structured and written and helps learners absorb and retain information more quickly and easily.
Goals and objectives need to be identified in advance, and visual aids should be used whenever possible. Creative, well thought-out case studies or examples also go a long way in engaging the learner and dramatically improving his retention. (Also see Technical Writing.)
