Technical writing covers a broad range of forms—from user guides to online help to white papers and more—with the aim of communicating complex ideas or information to a particular audience who needs to accomplish a task or goal.
With over 15 years experience, primarily in the hi-tech and software industries, I have written countless user manuals, admin guides, training materials, online help systems, video scripts, technical documentation, technical sales sheets, and more.
Important skills include: being analytical, extremely organized, and detail-oriented; the ability to grasp technical information quickly and easily; having a clear perception of the target audience and how best to speak to that audience (a key strength).
Good technical writing results in a number of benefits for the client, including cost savings on technical support, better or faster absorption of the technology or services offered, and intangibles, such as customer satisfaction and brand loyalty.
